What a busy few weeks it has been in Year 6!
In Maths, we have been learning about multiplication, exploring prime numbers, factors, multiples, and practising the column method to solve tricky calculations. In English, we have been reading Windrush Child by Benjamin Zephaniah. The story has inspired us to write poems based on the emotions and experiences of the main character as he travels to a new country and adjusts to life in Britain. Our History lessons have continued our topic on the Industrial Revolution. We’ve been learning about the inventions that transformed Britain, including the Spinning Jenny and the steam engine, and how these changed people’s lives forever. In P.E., we’ve been developing our hockey skills. This week, we learned how to dribble the ball with control and how to tackle opponents safely and effectively. In Art, we have been studying the work of Sandra Silberzweig, a contemporary Canadian artist known for her colourful, abstract portraits that often include bold patterns and shapes. Inspired by her unique style, we have created our own pastel portraits full of vibrant colours and expressive details. Take a look at some of our fantastic artwork below. |
