This term we are using challenging ourselves to using 'Paintz.app' to practise using shapes and lines to make pictures. We looked at the artist Piet Mondrians work and tried to independently recreate our own versions. What do you think?
We have been looking at pictures to identify all our hidden 2D shapes.
What shapes can you find with your adults? We have been looking at all things shape in Year One.
We enjoyed a shape hunt around the class, we looked for 3Dshapes, the children were amazing at using the right vocabulary for the shapes they found. Welcome back to our new half term!
This week, we had a visit from Alex from Recycle Devon team, she visited our class on Wednesday afternoon. We told Alex all about our learning from last term about material types and there properties. We played a game of guess the object. Children were chosen to describe objects from a bag using words like bendy, opaque, transparent, hard, soft, bumpy etc. The rest of the class had to guess the material. We then discussed our bins at home. We learnt that black bags no longer go to a dump to be buried but are now sent to The Energy from waste plant to produce electricity. Year 1 then discussed recycling bins and what materials go in which bin/bag. The children made there own posters to remind them where materials go. These have magnets on the back so can be stuck on fridges to be a reminder for the children. |
