We had a fantastic trip to Rosemoor Gardens a couple of weeks ago where we were learning about animal habitats. The children were beautifully behaved and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves!
We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 2, making the most of the beautiful sunshine. We've enjoyed reading outside and even managed to hold our SCARF lesson on the field, which was a lovely experience for everyone.
It was also wonderful to see the children’s amazing outfits for World Book Day today — they looked fantastic! We spent time discussing our favorite books and authors, completed a fun character quiz featuring characters from popular children's books, and even enjoyed some reading with the Year 5 class. We had a fantastic time in Year 2 during Maths Day yesterday. As a class, we explored different themes and areas of mathematics, some of our activities included:
- Times Table bingo - Multiplication & Division boardgames - Lines of symmetry - Outdoor maths games (multiplication catch, addition target practice with bean bags and hoops) During the afternoon, we did some Maths art and created our own tessellation's using 2-D shapes. The children made their own patterns and created some beautiful artwork! During one of our lessons this week, we learned about Chinese New Year - what it means and how it is celebrated. We then made snakes as part of the celebration since it's the Year of the Snake!
During our Science lesson this afternoon, we went for a walk around the school grounds to search for living and non living things.
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to attend the KS1 & EYFS production, A Bundle of Joy! We are incredibly proud of each and every child who put in so much effort and dedication into making the performance a success. We hope you enjoyed the show!
The stage is up and rehearsals are well underway! The children are doing a wonderful job and we can't wait for you to see our play, 'A Bundle of Joy' in a couple of weeks time!
Last week a lady called Sarah visited from the Recycle Team and lead a fantastic workshop about recycling which the children thoroughly enjoyed!
Thank you very much to Isabella Peck and her father John who very kindly offered to volunteer in our classroom to help the children make Ancient Egyptian artefacts from clay last week. The children absolutely loved it and are very excited to bring home the pottery that they've made!
We've also been learning about shadows recently in Science, as part of our Light topic. So last week we were experimenting with making animal shapes on the walls. |
