Year 5 Homework 23.09.20

Dear Parents

Please follow this link for the Year 5 Homework for this week. These home challenges will be set every Wednesday, to be completed in homework books (to be sent home today), these will be collected on a Monday. We will mark and go through the homework together in class. Please can your child spend no longer than 45 mins on it per week. In addition to this homework, it would be really helpful if all children could be reading for 15 minutes every day. This could be reading a book (fiction or non-fiction), a magazine or newspaper – any kind of reading is good reading! 

If your child has a Nessy account which they are working on at home, then this takes a greater priority than homework. We are setting time aside for Nessy in class too, however. 

Spellings will be sent home as part of the homework. These will be made up from a specific spelling pattern (followed in class), the Years 5 & 6 Statutory Spelling List, and some will come from common misspelled words. We will be focusing on these spellings in class too and children are not expected to learn them by rote. Instead, we are encouraging pupils to 'apply' them to their writing. It would be helpful if you could motivate your child to apply them to their written homework (where possible!). 

Homework Drop-In
Thursday lunchtimes 1.00-1.30pm in Year 5 classroom. Available to any child who has any questions or worries about their homework.
