The Devon Summer School Games are going virtual this year! To find out how you can take part, head over to the School News page. Please let me know if you decide to take part. Donalds' Menswear have published their price list for Okehampton College uniform. This has been emailed to all Year 6 parents, but I've also added a link below just to be on the safe side. Uniform price list I always love seeing what fantastic pieces of work you create for our different topics. Ewan has been busy thinking about his underwater environment and his own fish creation. He described them first and then drew his fish in its new watery world. Eleanor P has been busy drawing a map of the Americas, showing the different mountain ranges, and a timeline of the ancient civilisations. Eleanor B has been busy creating an under the sea painting. She used newspaper and PVA glue to give the sea its textured effect. Don't forget to email me any photos of anything you do for these topics.
Myles has been busy learning about worms and making his very own 'Worm World'. Now, he just needs to find the worms to put in it! Usually, during the course of the spring and summer terms, Year 6 have the opportunity to explore and learn about Dartmoor. Unfortunately, because of the current situation we find ourselves in, we have not been able to do that this year. Luckily, Dartmoor Ranger, Orlando Rutter, has been in touch and passed on a link (see below) to the Dartmoor National Park website, where there are lots of different activities and information, to help you learn about our beautiful surroundings. Click on the link to take a look, and don't forget to email me some of the fantastic things you do. www.dartmoor.gov.uk/learning/learning-in-lockdown For all you budding poets out there... I have attached a link below about a fantastic competition to write a poem about the environment. The closing date is July 31st and there are prizes for each age group. Who would like to give it a go? causleytrust.org/the-2020-charles-causley-young-persons-poetry-competition/ As we head into a new week, I just wanted to share something with you. As some of you may be aware (if the days aren't, by now, merging into one), that this week would have been SATs week. I know that some of you are jumping with joy that there are no tests and some of you may be a little disappointed, but please be assured that no test can measure what brilliant individuals you all are. Over the past weeks, you have shown how resilient, imaginative and strong you really are. No test can ever measure these things, so SATs or no SATS, be proud of who you are and what you've achieved! On that note, I wanted to share the following poem with you: Have a great week and don't forget to get in touch if you need anything! Below you'll find all the links you need to access next weeks activities. As always, there is no expectation for you to complete all these activities. You can choose which ones you'd like to complete or create your own. We are moving onto a new topic of 'Under the Sea'; I'm really looking forward to seeing your creations.
