The learning is out of this world with our space themed topic. We have already done so much and learnt lots of information about astronauts, planets and space. We were excited to try real astronaut food and move as a solar system using inflatable planets. Here is a slide show of some of the things we have been up to in class this week.
We have been finding out about the festival of Diwali.
We have acted out the story of Rama and Sita, made colourful rangoli patterns and diva lamps. We have been on a leaf hunt, made nests for nocturnal animals and also some bird feeders which we hung in the trees.
We have had a nocturnal theme to our learning in class this week. We have found out about nocturnal animals and compared them. Children enjoyed acting out the story of 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell, using pastels to draw them and were particularly interested in how owls eat and regurgitate!
We finished our sleepy theme by wearing our pyjamas to support the whole school's Children In Need fundraising efforts. There were plenty of whizz, pops and bangs this week as we celebrated Bonfire Night with our own firework dances. We also used chalks to draw them and watched real firework displays on the computer. We also made hedgehogs using dough and carefully decorated them.
Well done to Hester who recently won an ice cream design competition.
The winning flavours that she designed where 'Hot Chocolate' and 'Treasure Island.' They were made into real ice creams that she could enjoy with her family. |
