South Tawton's Pre-school provision

We are extremely proud to say that Little Beacons is a popular, over-subscribed nursery now offering places for 2, 3 and 4 year old's. 

Little Beacons is based on the site of South Tawton Primary School in the beautiful village of South Zeal, Okehampton. Our littlest learners enjoy the benefits of a varied and stimulating learning environment with plenty of outdoor space. as well as being adjacent to their Year R peers.

 

 

 

 

 Our aims for our Little Beacons

We aim to ensure every child reaches their full potential and develops an enthusiasm for learning through play. We do this by following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Our Little Beacons are situated adjacent to their peers in Year R meaning they can get their educational journey off to the best possible start through real life experience and modelling behaviours. Our committed team of Early Years practitioners nurture and value every child to enable them to feel safe, secure and keen to learn.

Opening hours and session times

We are open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm during term time. We offer full and part time pre school care. Our sessions are as follows:

Part time 9:00am - 12:00pm or 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Full time 9:00am-3:00pm

 Pricing

Parents may use all or part of their 15 or 30 hours funded early years childcare for 3-4 year olds or 2 year old funding if your child is eligible. We also offer the uptake of additional/ paid sessions.  These are charged at £15.66 per 3 hour session for 3 and 4 year olds and £21.48 per 3 hour session for 2 year olds until the term after their 3rd birthday.

 

The Department for Education has now published the Early Years Funding rates for 2026–2027. To ensure our Trust remains aligned with these national rates, the updated fees will apply to all bookings from 20th April 2026 across all DMAT nursery settings.

 If your child uses additional hours beyond their 15- or 30-hour entitlement, or if they do not receive funded hours, the new hourly rates will be:

 

· 2-year-old rate: £7.62 per hour (until the term following their 3rd birthday). This equates to £22.86 per 3 hour session.

· 3- and 4-year-old rate: £5.66 per hour (from the term after their 3rd birthday). This equates to £16.98 per 3 hour session.
