At South Tawton Primary School, we pride ourselves on our behaviour and positive relationships. We set high expectations of behaviour and the pupils respond brilliantly, respecting boundaries and treating staff and their peers with respect and warmth. We are embedding the Trust cooperative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity into all that we do and consider the behaviour for learning to be a particular strength of the school.
School behaviour guide for parents
Along with praise, stickers and certificates in assembly, we are thrilled to introduce
the following:
CLASS NUGGETS
Classes work together to earn class nuggets, which are displayed in the classroom.
Once 25 nuggets have been achieved, the class get to choose a 'Nugget Treat'.
CLASS DOJO
Children will be awarded Class Dojo Points for demonstrating excellent learning
behaviours in:
Cooperation
Curiosity
Independence
Listening
Perseverance
Resilience
Risk-taking
Each week, the child in each class with the most Dojo points becomes the Class
Dojo Champion.
Class Dojo is a popular app in schools and has different functions but we are only
using it for points purposes. Teachers will continue to share class news through
Class Blogs on the website and via email - we will not use Class Dojo for messaging
and no personal data (email addresses, etc.) will be shared with the platform.
SCHOOL AMBASSADORS
When a child has shown exemplary learning behaviours over a period of time, they
may be announced in our celebration assembly as being awarded School
Ambassador status the following week. These children have various privileges
throughout the week, including wearing an ambassador badge, sitting on a special
bench in assembly and having their lunch first with a friend of their choice. At the end
of each term, any child who has been an ambassador that term will enjoy a special
celebration.
