Message from South Tawton , Chagford and North Tawton Governing Body

We are pleased to announce that, subject to finalising paperwork, the Joint Governing Body have been successful this week in recruiting a permanent Executive Headteacher across our schools, Mrs Elizabeth Underwood.

Mrs Underwood's previous role was as headteacher of a large Church of England  Ofsted 'Outstanding' Academy school in Buckinghamshire. She moved down to Devon recently and, now she is settled, she says she is very eager to take on a new professional challenge. Mrs Underwood impressed the recruitment panel in that, although she recognised the strength of each school, she could also see their huge potential. Whilst in her previous role, Mrs Underwood could describe the exciting IT programs she had brought into school, she is obviously equally happy writing and producing musicals with the children. In addition to impressing us through the rigorous recruitment activities, Mrs Underwood was also the favourite of the school council, made up from pupils across all three schools. Mrs Underwood is keen to come into the schools to say hello and get to know the schools as quickly as possible in order to hit the ground running in September.

During this year some of our schools have had temporary leadership positions. We are looking to resolve all of these to permanent solutions for September in the coming weeks and we will of course keep you informed as things progress.
