Newsletter 13 Autumn Term 2022

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

What a wonderful week! This newsletter is largely a proud photographic celebration of some of the lovely Christmas activities which have taken place over the last week. Please see the class blog photos for more photos. 

Despite the extreme cold and many nasty bugs going around, the children have all been brilliant and risen to every challenge and event with smiles and enthusiasm.

Going to the theatre with the whole school was such a wonderful experience. The children behaved impeccably and really got into the panto spirit and I was, as ever, immensely proud and delighted to be part of such a fantastic community. 

It was lovely to see so many of you at the carols around the Christmas tree on Thursday despite the freezing temperatures. A big thanks is due to the PTA for keeping the hot drinks flowing. 

I'd like to wish the happiest of Christmasses to all of our families and to thank the school staff for the outstanding care and dedication they give to the pupils every single day. 

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Wednesday 4th January well rested and ready for the Spring Term.

Staffing news

Year 5
We shall sadly be saying goodbye to Mrs Sasha Bonnett for a while as she is taking up a secondment post at Exbourne Primary School in September where she will be teaching their Year 5/6 class. I know that Mrs Bonnett will be brilliant in this role and that Exbourne are extremely grateful to her for agreeing to the move. She will be particularly missed by our Y5 class but has promised to stay very closely in touch with us and will visit regularly. Mrs Leslie will return to teaching 5 days a week in January with Miss Watts continuing to support every morning.

Year 3
As many of you are aware, Mrs Everett will be going on maternity leave after February half term. We are delighted to let you know that we have successfully recruited to cover her leave and will be welcoming Miss Emily Coleman, who is currently teaching at Chagford Primary School, into Year 3 for the remainder of the spring and summer terms. Miss Coleman is an excellent practitioner and brings a wealth of experience and talents with her.

Year 1
I'm sure that you will all wish to join us in congratulating Miss Jennifer Williams on the birth of her beautiful baby girl, Harper. Harper has already visited us here in school for many cuddles and we hope she'll be a frequent visitor. Miss Williams' maternity leave will be covered from January by Miss Chloe Barton who is joining us from Chagford Primary School
