Medieval Monarchs
In History this week, we have started our topic of Medieval Monarchs. It felt very relevant, to be talking about succession to the throne and how new monarchs are chosen. Pupils were involved in a good debate over who they think should succeed Edward the Confessor, when he died in 1066. The majority thought that Harald Hardrada of Norway had the best credentials, but it turned out that Harold Godwinson got the job. We learnt about the Battle of Hastings and the Bayeux Tapestry. In Science, pupils have started their topic of Space. This week Year 5 also enjoyed their first SAINTS Games lesson, in sunshine! They played lots of fun, whole class warm up games, which were followed by small sided handball games. The children used two bounces at a time to travel up and down the court, before passing and scoring goals. In Art, the children were introduced to the designer Morag Myerscough and artist and designer, Luke Morgan. Using the designers' work as inspiration, the class voted to design a space for Year 5 and 6, focusing on shape, colour and typography. We look forward to sharing their final designs in the coming weeks. Mrs Leslie, Mrs Bonnett and Miss Watts Comments are closed.
