Week 4

Medieval Topic

We've enjoyed several lessons based on our topic of Medieval Monarchs this week. We started the week with an online workshop with the National Archives, where we studied images of King Henry VIII and found out how artefacts from the time could tell us a lot about him as a king. He liked to have images of lions, greyhounds and roses on his paintings and clothing. 

In our Medieval Monarchs lesson we were discussing the question: Who made a worse king: King Richard (The Lionheart) or King John? After an excellent debate, 11 voted for Richard and 14 voted for John, well done everyone. 

In our English lessons, we have started studying a children's version of Macbeth. Was he a hero or a villain? We've yet to decide but so far we're not liking him or his wife, Lady Macbeth, very much.

For our Outdoor Learning morning on Friday, we sharpened some feather quills and made our own ink. We just about managed to light a fire and have a hot chocolate before the rain came down and we had move back into the classroom to design some Tudor-style signatures.
