It has been another busy week for us in Year Two. We always enjoy sharing books together in Year Two and the book talk that happens during this time is always wonderful to listen to.
There will be no homework for the half term. Have a wonderful half term!!! Mrs Dennis and Mrs Horsley. Year Two enjoyed sharing the book 'Rain Before Rainbows' by Smriti Halls. The book posed lots of questions for us all and some wonderful book chat emerged from sharing this text. I've included the link to the ebook version for you below, so that you are able to access this resource too. There is also a useful guide to initiating book chat with your child. Mrs Dennis.
A little bit of rain couldn't dampen Year Two's spirits when we visited the forest school area this morning. All of the children had a great time!!
Mrs Dennis. Reading.

Please discuss with the children their address. Mrs Dennis. Year Two were lucky enough to have OCRA come into school this afternoon to run some dancing and ball skills workshops with us. We all had a great time and showed some excellent balls skills and dance moves!!
Mrs Dennis. Year Two braved the elements to take their maths learning 'outside of the classroom' today. They worked hard completing tally charts, comparing, counting and estimating whilst out around the school grounds. The children had a fantastic time and even a rather heavy Dartmoor downpour didn't dampen their spirits!
Mrs Dennis and Mrs Horsley. This week Year Two chose Pigeon P.I as their favourite book. In Art, the children finished their propaganda posters and it's been wonderful to be able to display them on the wall. As part of our History topic, the children wrote letters to a family member that was in the trenches as if they were a child living at home during the war. Th children wrote some fantastic letters and we are looking forward to displaying some of them on our Wow wall.
Mrs Dennis. The children enjoyed sharing their healthy eating posters on Monday and it was wonderful to hear the children talk about ways to keep both their bodies and minds healthy.

Make a list of the different technologies that you might find at home and when out and about. Mrs Dennis. As part of our science topic 'Animals including humans', we thought about what effect exercise had on our heart rate. We counted how many beats per minute, whilst we were resting, after running around for 3 minutes, after doing star jumps and after jumping over a line for 2 minutes. Next week we are going to be thinking about what a healthy packed lunch looks like.
Mrs Dennis. Our History topic for this half term is remembrance. In Art, we created a fantastic display with Mrs White based on the poem 'Flanders Field' by John McCrae.
Have a lovely weekend. Mrs Dennis and Mrs Horsley. |
