Monday 1st March 2021.

9:00- We are starting our day with a dance video which has been made by ex South Tawton pupil, Emily. Emily has made this video as a great way to get moving, have some fun and learn a new dance routine during lockdown. Great work Emily!! We're going to learn the second part of the video tomorrow.

In this session you will  learn about what information is safe to share online with others and what information should be kept private/ only shared with your trusted adults.

Activity :
Using the activity sheet, fill in the details they have been asked for. Look back at the pictures and discuss green = family, orange = friends and red = everyone. Take each fact at a time and discuss who this piece of information can be shared with.  Think about the information that you should only share with your parents (trusted adults).

13:30- Geography. Hot and cold places. Today we are starting our new topic 'Hot and cold places'. 

As a start of unit piece of work, I would like you to brainstorm what you know about hot and cold places in the world. I would also like you to write down three questions that you would like to answer during this topic. 

Music:
For our Music work today I would like you to explore the four different families within an orchestra.

An orchestra is a large group of musicians who play together on a variety of string, wind and percussion instruments. They are led by a conductor.

This website is really useful in sharing the different sections and also allows you to listen to each of the different instruments, individually.

As part of our materials topic, today you are going to explore using wax. 

• Use wax drawing and colour washing as a reminder of the waterproof properties of wax.
• Make a wax resist picture using wax crayons, oil pastels and paint.
• Consider the questions: why is waterproof material sometimes used for making clothes? Can you think of other reasons why a material needs to be made waterproof

This activity is designed to help your child to understand that there are jobs that they can help with around the home and to motivate them to help.   
Ask your child to make a list of some of the jobs that are done at home. Can you list 10? Even more? Have a chat about who usually does each job. You could write names next to the jobs.
Does the list look fair? Are the jobs shared out? 
Which jobs help everyone in the home and which are to help an individual? 
Have a chat about those jobs that are for the benefit of everyone and those that benefit just one person (like making their bed). Who should do that job if they are able to?
Highlight or draw a line under any jobs that your child could safely help with.
