Year Two had a great, Easter themed morning in the forest school area. After collecting sticks for our fire, we went on an Easter scavenger hunt. We then had to use the bow saw and the drill to make tree cookies which we decorated to go on our Easter tree.
Mrs Dennis and Mrs Horsley. The children were very excited about their mile run with OCRA. It was a sunny, Tuesday afternoon and all of the children gave their all... some of them were keen to continue running over the mile mark! Great work Year Two!!!
Mrs Dennis. Linking in with our history topic The Great Fire of London, the children have been busy making Tudor houses. The children thought carefully about the features of these houses and we discussed what caused the fire to spread so quickly.
Mrs Dennis. Year Two came into school dressed in their favourite red items of clothing to raise money for Comic relief.
Mrs Dennis. Year Two had great fun this morning, taking part in a workshop building our very own rocket cars! We all had a go at racing our rocket cars; you might like to watch some of our videos. The children will be bringing home their cars today. If you would like to have a go at racing them, they should be pumped with air to a maximum of 60psi.
Mrs Dennis. It has been a busy, sunny Tuesday for Year Two!! We started our day dancing, following Emily's super dance video that she created for us. In Art, we have been looking at drawing people, focusing on their personalities and interests. We looked at the work from David Hockney, Peter Blake and Frances Hodgkins. Have a look at the brilliant display we created! I wonder if you can spot any of the familiar faces! My Parents by David Hockney. Self portrait with badges by Peter Blake. Portrait of Kitty West by Frances Hodgkins. We have been revisiting our work on Statistics and carried out a traffic survey around the village. We have also added to our Book nooks display; adding some more fantastic creations.
As part of our PSHE work, we have been discussing the 'highs and lows' of lockdown for the children. The children shared some very thoughtful parts of lockdown that they'd enjoyed and lots of the children had parts of the lockdown that they would like to keep once normality resumed. Missing family and friends was a recurring theme for the children when discussing our low points and so many of the children were overjoyed to see their friends after the long time apart. We finished our day with some butterfly yoga. Mrs Dennis. It has been wonderful to welcome all of the children back to school today. There was a buzz of excitement within the classroom, the sound of fun and laughter filled the playground and the children were overjoyed to see their friends after such a long time apart.
Have a look at our wonderful book nooks that the children made as part of our World Book day celebrations!! Mrs Dennis. Today our Friday challenge took the form of a game, Guess the book.
The children came armed with clues, props, costumes and drawings to help each other guess their book title. As always Year Two fully embraced this challenge and made it a great fun game!! Can you guess any of our book titles using our clues? Mrs Dennis. As we approach the time for us to all be reunited at school, I've been reflecting on how amazing the children have been throughout this third lockdown and how they have adapted to everything that has been thrown at them.
Here are a few pictures from this week, it was so wonderful to see all of your wonderful World book day fun; you are all so creative! I'm very much looking forward to seeing you all on Monday!! Have a wonderful weekend. Mrs Dennis. |
