Year 6 enjoyed another fantastic day out on Dartmoor with Dartmoor Park Ranger, Ian Brooking, on Thursday. They completed a 5.5 mile walk around and over Cosdon with plenty of opportunities for insect sampling and Dartmoor knowledge gathering on the way. Due to Mrs Everett's injured knee, I (Mrs Marvin) got to accompany the pupils and thoroughly enjoyed their company. Well done, year 6.
Year 6 have massively impressed me this week with their level of maturity during our SRE (SCARF) lessons; they were incredibly thoughtful and considerate of others when asking questions and making suggestions - well done to all of you.
On Thursday, they had their final day John Muir walk. Mrs Marvin commented on how well the class behaved and how resilient they were over the lengthy walk. This morning, the class also took part in the Mathematics World Cup. Children from schools all over the world take part; it is said that over 30,000 children are taking part across the globe. The children were divided into teams and answered different mathematical questions in between taking part in physical exercise. They all thoroughly enjoyed it! Have a lovely weekend! We were lucky enough to have Dartmoor Ranger, Ian Brooker, come into school on Thursday. The children worked in groups of 5 to build bird boxes and bee motels. I'm sure you'll agree, they all did a fantastic job. Subaru loved it so much, but unfortunately had to leave school early, that he went home and made one of his own! A great week everyone - well done!
Have a lovely weekend! Wow! What a busy first week back to start off the term. This week we have started a new unit based on The Tales of Beedle the Bard in which the children will finish with writing their own magically themed narrative. We have also started a new statistics unit in Maths; the children have been busy choosing the data they'd like to collect and on Monday we will gather all the results and present them in a graph. They have also been introduced to the script for our chosen performance. I have also been blown away by the level of maturity during our first RSE (SCARF) lessons.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! |
