I don't know about you guys, but I am so happy to see some sunshine again! William and I will be working in the sunshine today. What will you guys be up to? I've had some great photos sent to me already this week, and it's great to see you using Cluster. If you'd like to use Cluster and haven't received an invite yet, ask your parents to email me. It's been great seeing all your photos of what you've been up to today and over the weekend. Harriet has made a start on some bunting for our VE Day celebration on Thursday, and Myles has been making Egyptian bread - yummy!
Have a good evening everyone! Myles has been thinking about his three favourite places. Here's what he had to say:
My first place is Cornwall, Harlyn Sands Holiday Park, with this amazing beach. I hope I can go back anytime soon. Secondly, is Dartmoor because it is a peaceful and quiet place. I also love life wildlife there including the bluebells, rabbits and SHEEP! My last place is USA Florida; I went their with my dad and brother last year on the 1st of May. I loved America for its theme parks and weather; the bad thing was at a water park named Volcano Bay. It was a great day; we went on slides and swam, but then there was a lightning weather warning so we had to get out , which was very sad, but me and Cameron built a sand castle. About an hour later, the lifeguard told us we were allowed to go in the water again. It was literally a stampede into the water! I've had several emails showing me what you have been up to during the weekend. There's been bike rides, long walks, writing newspaper articles and even living room camping! Keep the photos coming guys and don't forget, you can now share them on our Cluster page too! Lottie has been busy helping her mum at home, cooking parsnip soup and creating butterfly poetry and fact files; she's even found a way to dye her hair with coloured tissue paper! It's Ewan's turn to tell us where his favourite places are. My favourite places I have been, or that I go to, are my shed with my bell ropes inside, level crossings and my first holiday abroad. I did miss home, but the hot weather and the swimming pool all to ourselves was really good fun and I loved flying. I love being outside. Below you'll find the links for next weeks maths and literacy activities. I've posted links to White Rose maths, BBC Bitesize daily lessons and the Year 5 and 6 Hamitlon Trust literacy units. Remember, you are not expected to do all of this; choose activities which interest you. The Americas topic will continue for another week, but if you'd like to focus on VE Day instead that's absolutely fine. Please don't forget to share all your wonderful work with me. Have a lovely weekend! Hamilton Trust Year 6 Year 5 Monday Monday Tuesday PowerPoint Tuesday Wednesday Wednesday Thursday PowerPoint Thursday PowerPoint Friday Friday White Rose Maths (week 3) BBC Bitesize daily lessons - maths and literacy Grace and Matylda have also been thinking about their favourite places. Where did Grace choose and why? I chose Dartmoor as my favourite place because it makes me feel free and I love seeing all the baby animals in the Spring. My second favourite place is wherever my pony is and also going to the race track with the horses my mum rides to get them fit. Matylda decided to choose London, Zakynthos and Poland. Throughout the year, we have been working on World War Two. To end the topic, we planned on holding a VE day celebration to coincide with the 75th anniversary. On Thursday 7th May, we would like to hold a virtual afternoon tea and quiz. We would like you to send us a WW2 question (with answer); Year 6 will write questions for Year 5 and vice versa. Please submit your question by the end of school on Tuesday 5th May. We will the select a number of these questions to create a quiz for both classes. If you would like to make a hat, mask, bunting or a flag for the occasion, we’d love to see them. The Year 5 meeting will take place at 2:15 pm and Year 6’s will be at 3:00 pm. Don’t forget you drink and snack (if you’d like one). Tegan has been giving this some thought and has shared the following photos and reasons. If you'd like to share your favourite places with the class, email some photos to me and I can add them our blog. Disneyland is one of my favourite places on Earth because it is magical and holds a special place in my heart. It was also the first time we had been on a plane. I chose London as my second favourite place because we have been going almost every year. Last year’s trip was the best, we visited the Assisted Families exhibition at The Science Museum that my mum was part of and also the WonderLab which is an interactive science area. We had tickets to watch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the London Palladium too. My third choice is Dartmoor because we are so lucky to have somewhere so beautiful on our doorstep. |
