The new term is well on its way with the children hitting the ground running. With SATS around the corner it is safe to say the children are working hard to achieve the best they can. As is evident in their positive and engaging attitude in lessons.
We have also started to learn about both world wars, something Year 6 seem to be thoroughly enjoying and finding extremely interesting. So far, we have looked at what it must have been like to be an evacuee in Devon during world war 2 and studied the poor conditions of trench warfare on the western front in world war 1. The use of Michael Morpurgo's books really helps bring the past alive and captures an idea of what life would have been like back then. As we carry on learning about World War 2, I hope to bring in a primary source from my own family, which I know the children will enjoy looking at. If you have anything from your own family or friends, we in Year 6 (and especially Mr Calderwood) would love to see and hear about it! Comments are closed.
