This week, Year One had a fabulous afternoon in the sunshine exploring the school grounds, searching for and identifying wild flowers as part of our science topic. The children worked so brilliantly in their groups to find the flowers on our identification sheets. We also couldn't help but stop to admire the beautiful daffodils in the planters in the big playground.
What a lovely week we have had being reunited with our friends in Year One; it has been a pleasure to welcome all of the children back to school and wonderful to see the children interacting with their friends face-to-face and re-establishing friendships after such a long time apart. The fun and smiles across the classroom has been joyous to witness! We have continued our UK topic this week with some traditional foods from around the UK. We tasted shortbread, Welsh cakes, scones and soda bread. We were also delighted to return to school to see the garden area outside of the classroom after it had received a little lockdown makeover. Mrs Dunn and Mrs Bazeley, along with the critical worker children, worked incredibly hard to turn a rather sad looking patch of soil into the most beautiful small world area. As you can see the from the photos, it looks amazing and the children have thoroughly enjoyed using the fairy garden and dinosaur patch. A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Dunn, Mrs Bazeley and all of the children who helped!
