World Book Day 2023

Happy World Book Day 2023! 
There were so many wonderful costumes in Year 3 and across the school. It was a joy chatting to the children and hearing about the characters they had chosen to dress as. We even learnt about books some of us hadn't heard of before and were inspired to read, for example Peanut Jones. 
We spent the day doing lots of book orientated activities. Online the author of Dave Pigeon, Swapna Haddow, read the world book day book of Dave Pigeon. This was followed by a tutorial from Sheena Dempsey, illustrator, on how to draw our very own Dave Pigeon. ​

After break, we had the privilege of walking up to Little Beacons and sharing stories with the pre-school children. Year 3 did really well interacting with the little ones. They showed their patience, kindness and empathy when dealing with children who weren't sure to start with. The engagement the children had was fantastic to see, even creating activities and games to play while reading the books.
