The Year 2 & 4 classes were fortunate enough to have a visit from Joe Rice who taught the children some very important first aid skills. He taught the children how to perform CPR, how to assist with somebody who's choking and also how to use a defibrillator.
The Year 4 class have had another wonderful week and have been very engaged in the new topics that we've started this term.
In Maths, we've just moved on from Area where the children made brilliant progress onto Multiplication and Division. Again, they are working incredibly hard and are now using one multiplication question to find the multiplication & division fact families for those numbers. This term in Geography we're focusing on rivers and the class thoroughly enjoyed analysing which continents and countries have either many or few rivers. They were also very excited to find out that the Amazon river is a whopping 4,000 miles long which at points stretches to 120 miles wide. Our focus on Art this term is Dragon Eyes. These will be very detailed and the scales and eye will be coloured in pastels to enhance the detail. The children have been very eager to continue these since we started them last week! I hope you all have a lovely weekend. The Year 4 students have had a brilliant first week back after a well deserved break.
This term, we have started our new English text which is The Iron Man, by Ted Hughes. This week, the children have been working on using similes and noun-phrases to provide detailed descriptions of characters and nouns. After working very hard on their Place Value and Addition & Subtraction last term, the children have now moved onto Area & Perimeter in Maths and they are doing a super job! As you can see from the pictures above, in PE we have been working on our coordination and balance and have been using different jumping techniques to practice our balancing and landing skills. |
