Using our understanding of how sounds travels, the children were tasked with making ear defenders for children to attend a noisy rock concert. They talked in groups about which mediums would help muffle sound or not and why. It was a lot of fun, creative and the ideas were brilliant! We went into Yr3 and Yr5 to see if our designs worked when they made noise.
Here are some of the comments that were overheard: 'I found out that you need a few layers of wodding to block the sound, as with one layer it kept coming through' 'The egg carton worked well when stuffed with wodding, but it was difficult to attached it the head so I had to hold them on my ears'. 'The bubbles needed to stay in the bubble wrap to provide another layer to protect against loud sounds' 'Dense, soft materials like cotton wool and wodding absorb sound waves, so the waves go slower'. We hope you have a great weekend, Miss Chalcraft, Mrs Graham and Mrs White Comments are closed.
