We have studied the Willow Pattern in our Art lessons. The children have learnt that the story is set in China and tells the tale of two lovers escaping together. The children were surprised to discover that the pattern is actually British and was designed by a man called Thomas Minton at the end of the 18th century. The children have created their own copies of the Willow Pattern plate design using blue ink. They then choose a favourite or familiar story and drew the key elements and main characters to create their own story plates. We think the results are fantastic!
Can you work out which stories the children have chosen to draw on their plates Comments are closed.
