Our Science topic has been Sound this half term, so we have explored sound made from a gramophone this week.
Like other record players, gramophones read the sound with a small needle which fits into the groove in the record. As the record turns, the grooves make the needle vibrate back and forth. These vibrations are transmitted to the diaphragm, which itself vibrates, creating sound. We hope you enjoy 'His Masters Voice' as much as we did. The children commented on the crackle of the record and by listening to it, they felt like they were going back in time. Several children talked about how the sound was amplified, sounded eerie and they commented on it being more reliable that modern day technology as there is less to go wrong and can be fixed easily. In Art, Mrs White has been continuing our History topic of Anglo Saxons by the children designing and making round houses, they are coming on a treat. We hope you have a lovely weekend, Miss Chalcraft, Mrs Graham and Mrs White Comments are closed.
