Welcome to Year 4

 
Dear Year  4, 

We are so excited to be welcoming you back to school and we hope you had a super summer.  You will have received a detailed letter from Mrs Marvin about school return but here are some little extras we would like you to know about.
English - Our first teaching sequence will be a short story from 'The Book of Hope' which has been put together by the Literacy Trust.  If you haven't already dipped in, here is the link:  https://literacytrust.org.uk/family-zone/9-12/book-hopes/
Maths - Continuing to use the White Rose scheme, starting with a lovely Place Value recap for everyone. 
Science - Electricity 
Topic - Romans 
You will also have Art/DT, RE, PE (inc. Saints South West), Music, computing and MFL

The class reader is from the Pie Corbett recommended readers list and is Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

Extra Bits:

• Miss Bennett is teaching Mondays and Tuesdays in Year 4 and SENDco Wed/Thurs/Fri
• Miss Chalcraft is teaching Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Year 4.
• Mrs White is in four mornings
• PE kits need to be in school as SAINTS starts this Thursday
• Own pencil cases but only with items you need in it please
• Lunchboxes to stay in your bag
• Water bottles can stay on desk or beside desk
• Please pre-book lunch on your Gateway account, as we are unable to do it
• Lunches will be eaten in the classrooms for the time being
• You will be able to use the library, we will tell you how this will work when you are in

What have we been up to?
Miss Bennett has spent the summer catching up with friends outside, paddle boarding and enjoyed a visit to Lego Land.
Miss Chalcraft has seen friends for walks / picnics, had fun off-grid camping by the beach with a lot of time spent in the sea and also wild swimming on Dartmoor.
Mrs White has been to market, enjoyed hay harvesting and has also been on local outings for a cream tea or a garden center visit with Mrs Glover.

The classroom is looking a little different to what you are used to as all the tables are facing forwards now, see photos below.
