It's December and we are starting to think about Christmas.
This week the children have tried on their angel costumes for a run through of our Christmas play. They have decorated the classroom and they have talked about the significance of Christmas lights. The children made a sparkly candle each to take home. It's been another busy week! It's been another busy week in Year R.
We have been learning about addition and subtraction. We have been blending and reading words. We had a birthday party for Fred Frog. We have read the Christmas story and we have begun working on our Angel Dance for the Christmas Production. We even had some snow to play with inside the classroom! This term, the focus in our PE lessons is Gymnastics.
We have been learning how to hold different balances. Our challenge is to try and hold a balance for 5 seconds. You can see from the pictures that we are doing really well! The children had a great day on Friday.
They really enjoyed wearing their own clothes to school and many of them went to the PTA disco. Because a few children were unable to stay after school, we also had a mini disco in the classroom with flashing lights and music! We have been enjoying our PE lessons with Mr Wood, who is a PE coach.
We have learnt lots of new games. We really enjoy playing stuck in the mud and turn the cones over. The class enjoyed a great morning on Mrs Glover's farm. We saw sheep, pigs, chicken and rabbit. The children picked their own blackberries to take back to class. On our return the children sliced up apples and made their own blackberry and apple crumbles to take home. Yum! The class are off to a flying start with their Read Write Inc phonics. We have learnt 9 new sounds, how to write them and are starting to make words too. It was super to see so many parents join us for our online Parent Phonics Session this week, thank you for attending. Over the past few weeks, we have been getting to know each other. Each child has shared a collage they created at home. We have found out so much about our classmates. Here are the displays in class; self portraits and 'All about me' collages.
The new class thoroughly enjoy being outdoors and have been making the most of the water, sand and construction areas.
Welcome to school the new class of 25 Reception pupils, ready and eager to start their school journey at South Tawton.
