Well done to all our Year R pupils on a great first year of school. We are all so proud of everything that you have learnt and how well you get along with each other.
From the Year R staff team. To end our learning about growing, we visited the local garden of Finn's family. We enjoyed digging vegetables, picking fruits, making daisy chains, tying posies and a senses treasure hunt. We finished off the afternoon with a home made ice cream and story in the garden. Thank you to Saffron for organising a wonderful afternoon in your garden. This week we have been finding out about fruits, vegetables and how plants grow. We have been printing, cutting, drawing, and pattern making. Here are few photos from the week, including our puppet theatres which have entertained the staff and children alike. We have now released the 5 caterpillars that we have watch grow and change over the last few weeks. They were very friendly but were happy to fly away and make their new homes amongst the plants and trees in the nature area.
Year R enjoyed their first school sports day today. First they joined with children from each class to make teams and try 11 different sporty challenges. Then they ran running and obstacle races before finishing off with a whole school picnic. What a super time everyone had! Thank you to OCRA who held a multi skills afternoon for Year R and 1. Children enjoyed workshops in dance, athletics, ball skills and fencing. To celebrate inclusivity, we joined in with the school's first Rainbow Day. Children made a real effort with their colourful outfits and enjoyed a range of rainbow themed activities.
We listened to stories; My Daddies, Love makes a family and Perfectly Norman. |
