Year R children have enjoyed a fun filled week of Christmassy activities. We have made decorations, cards, had a Christmas dinner and performed as angels in the Christmas play. We finished the term with a Christingle service followed by a party.
Our outdoor learning had a festive feel this week. With Christmas tunes playing in the background children painted their own wooden Christmas decoration and baubles. We hung the baubles on trees for the other classes to enjoy when they visit next week. After hot chocolate (with marshmallows and Christmas biscuits as a treat), we read the story of Stickman and made our own stickman to recreate the story. In response to the story, the children made their own role play area and farm. They were keen to make maps, wanted posters and traps for Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len, as well as using play dough to create the characters. Children made masks and did an excellent job of cutting eye holes too. This week we have learnt about the Jewish festival of light- Hanukkah.
We have made our own Menorahs, created Star of Davids using our triangle knowledge and used spinning tops as dreidels. |
