Staff were very impressed by their ball control and spatial awareness. Children have been very keen to practise their writing in so many ways this week. They have been using chalks and writing kits outside, and lots of resources from the mark making shelves in class. It has been the perfect week to learn about cold places around the world, and we didn't have to go far to find snow and ice of our own. James Screen visited to tell us all about his trip to the Antarctic and helped us set up an ice melting experiment.
This week we have enjoyed reading and acting out the stories of Handa, by Eileen Browne. Like Handa, we have practised balancing things on our heads and even made it more challenging by creating an assault course too. We touched, smelt and tasted all the different fruits from the story for an exotic snack to end the week. Year R look forward to meeting up with their Year 5 buddies each week. They practise their letter sounds and reading, and this week have been showing their developing writing skills too. It is super to hear the wonderful conversations and how the Year 5 children support and encourage their younger buddies.
