We have been learning how to make patterns in lots of different ways. The children were also very good at spotting the odd one out in patterns too. We finished the week off by creating our own fruit patterns for snack, they were colourful and delicious.
After reading the story of Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert we used autumn themed items to make our own pictures. Our creations included an owl, wildebeest, rabbit among others. To get in the autumn mood, you can view us performing our Wise little Squirrel song.
The sun was shining this Friday as we enjoyed our time in the forest school. We had a jam packed morning building nests for silly squirrel, completing an autumn themed phonics treasure hunt and making salt dough hedgehogs. All topped off with hot chocolate and biscuits around the camp fire. We were entertained by Vicky and Helen from Above Bounds Theatre Co. They performed a show about a silly squirrel and we enjoyed the audience participation.
Mrs Snell teaches RE to the class each Wednesday afternoon. This Wednesday they held a Christian baptism in class with Hettie and Eli as proud parents to baby Jacob and Finn and Poppy as godparents.
This week we have enjoyed pampering our classmates and staff in our hairdressing and nail salon. Once you made an appointment you could choose from a wash, cut, restyle and new shade of nail varnish. We all felt better after a visit this week and it was a super chance to talk to each other too. We have also read the story 'The Worrysaurus' by Rachel Bright. We have talked about times when we feel worried and what we could do when that happens. Children had excellent ideas including making dream catchers, speaking to adults, giving a hug and playing with someone. Here are some great things we created this week in response to the story; dream catchers, worry dolls, pictures and bracelets. We have been practising our sorting skills this week. We have sorted according to colour, shape, size and type and also enjoyed finding the 'odd one out'. The class shared photos of themselves as babies. They were excited to meet a real baby as well as care for toy babies in class this week.
