We have had a fun filled and busy run up to the Christmas holidays. As well as our school trip to the theatre, Christingle service and Christmas dinner we completed lots of Christmas themed activities in class too. We rounded the week off with a party. Year R, 1 and 2 performed their Christmas Show 'Bethlehem Bake Off' to a packed audience this afternoon. The Year R children were bakers who danced and sang on stage. We were all very proud of them.
In the forest school area this week we made hanging Christmas decorations using willow weaving and clay. We dried the clay on the camp fire. We also found Christmas themed pictures in a maths treasure hunt. We drank hot gingerbread milk and Year 6 joined us to hear our story around the fire, 'Norman, the slug who saved Christmas'.
This week we have been practising our subitising to 5, so we can see an amount without counting, such as 5 spots on a dice or 3 fingers.
The children have also enjoyed lots of building work outdoors. They have set up road works, made signs, used tools and moved water by constructing their own elaborate gully systems. |
