Summer Term- Daily Routine

Here is a suggested daily plan for your Year R child.  This may seem like a lot to fit in but timings show that it would be approx. 3 hours learning, interspersed with learning through play and other additional activities as you see fit. 
 

1. In Year R we start the day by changing the calendar and then putting the numbers in order.  0-20 digits to arrange.  We then ask what is 1 more than… or 1 less than… - I’m sure the children will guide you.  
2. Morning fitness (20-30 mins).  You could try the Joe Wicks 30 minute workout on YouTube ‘PE with Joe’ or log in to ‘www.gonoodle.com’ for shorter dances, do an outdoor sport activity or try a suggested activity from the Youth Sport Trust https://www.youthsporttrust.org/pe-home-learning
   
3. Phonics session (approx. 20 mins)– search ‘ruth miskin phonics sounds set 2’ on YouTube. These are daily sessions but are only available for the day from 10am.  If your child is learning a new sound that day, please put it in their letter sound pouch. 
   
4. Snack and break
5. Maths session (approx. 30 mins)- there are suggestions on the weekly plan to fit with our fairy tale topic.
6. Lunch time, maybe children could help prepare this? 
7. Literacy session (approx. 30 mins)- there are suggestions on the weekly plan to fit with our fairy tale topic.
8. Afternoon themed activity (approx. 30 mins)- there are suggestions on the weekly plan to fit with our fairy tale topic.  
9. Daily reading.  (10-15 mins) You can access e-books from www.oxfordowl.co.uk , use your letter sound cards to make words and practise red words.  You can also access www.phonicsplay.co.uk for online games in addition to this.
